Windows Server Installation

Prepare and install a compatible Windows Server environment for the planned Domain Controller implementation.

02

Active Directory Domain Services

Configure AD DS and establish the domain or add a Domain Controller to an existing Active Directory environment.

03

DNS Server Configuration

Configure domain DNS services and essential name resolution settings for Active Directory.

04

Group Policy Configuration

Configure Group Policy Objects for agreed user and computer settings across the domain.

05

User & Group Management

Create Active Directory user accounts, security groups, and organizational structures according to project requirements.

06

Workstation Domain Join

Join agreed Windows computers to the domain and verify user authentication and applicable policies.

FLEXIBLE ACTIVE DIRECTORY ARCHITECTURE

Single or Multiple Domain Controllers

Select an implementation architecture based on the number of users, network topology, operational requirements, and desired service resilience.

SINGLE SERVER ARCHITECTURE

Single Domain Controller

A single Windows Domain Controller providing central Active Directory services for a smaller or straightforward domain environment.

Architecture Note: Modern Active Directory uses multi-master replication between writable Domain Controllers. The terms "Primary" and "Additional" describe the implementation arrangement, not a passive primary/secondary standby system. Having multiple Domain Controllers does not replace Active Directory system-state backups, and does not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
CENTRALIZED BUSINESS IT ADMINISTRATION

Why Your Business Needs Active Directory

Active Directory makes it easier to organize users, manage authentication, and apply consistent access policies across compatible Windows environments.

☷

Individual User Accounts

Provide separate domain identities for employees rather than relying only on shared local accounts.

✓

Folder Access Permissions

Use domain users and security groups to plan permissions for compatible shared file resources.

⚙

Workstation Administration

Apply supported policy settings to organizational units, domain users, and computers.

▣

Network Resource Access

Simplify identity-based access planning for compatible shared folders and network printers.

PROJECT-BASED IMPLEMENTATION

Implementation Scope & Requirements

Each project is planned according to existing infrastructure, users, server operating system compatibility, and agreed implementation requirements.

Core Implementation Activities

The activities below reflect the core services offered. Actual quantities and deliverables are confirmed in the quotation.

  • Windows Server installation and configuration
  • Active Directory Domain Controller setup
  • DNS Server configuration
  • Group Policy setup
  • Active Directory user and group creation
  • Workstation domain joining
  • Single or additional Domain Controller option
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS

What We Need to Confirm

Project sizing and commercial scope depend on the environment and implementation requirements.

  • Number of users and computers
  • Existing or new Active Directory environment
  • Windows Server version and compatibility
  • Server hardware or virtualization platform
  • Domain naming and DNS design
  • Single or additional Domain Controllers
  • Windows Server licensing and CAL requirements
REQUEST PROJECT QUOTATION →
Scope Clarification: Windows Server licenses, Client Access Licenses (CALs), server hardware or hosting, existing domain migration, file server migration, backup solutions, and post-deployment maintenance must be explicitly confirmed in the project proposal. They should not be assumed to be included in the implementation service.

How Our Implementation Process Works

A structured approach to planning and deploying an Active Directory environment.

01

Requirements Review

Review the existing network, users, workstations, and Windows Server requirements.

02

Design & Quotation

Confirm the Domain Controller architecture and agreed implementation scope.

03

Server Implementation

Configure Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, and agreed Group Policies.

04

Domain Onboarding

Create agreed users and groups, join designated workstations, and verify the configuration.

Deployment Planning: Implementation schedules depend on environment readiness, administrative access, licensing, user and workstation quantities, and the agreed project scope. Changes to an existing production domain require appropriate planning and backups.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Windows Domain Controller implementation.

What is a Windows Domain Controller?

A Domain Controller is a server running Active Directory Domain Services. It helps manage domain identities, authentication, and directory information for users and computers.

What services are included in Active Directory implementation?

The existing service offering covers Windows Server installation, Domain Controller setup, DNS, Group Policy, user and group creation, and workstation domain joining. Exact quantities and deliverables are defined in the project quotation.

Do I need one or two Domain Controllers?

A single Domain Controller may be sufficient for some environments. Multiple Domain Controllers can provide additional authentication capacity and replicated directory data. The appropriate topology depends on network design and availability requirements.

What is Group Policy (GPO)?

Group Policy is a Windows management mechanism used to apply supported settings to domain users and computers. The specific policies to be configured are agreed during implementation planning.

Can Active Directory manage shared folder access?

Yes. Active Directory security groups can be used with compatible file server permissions. File server installation, permission migration, and shared folder configuration should be included explicitly in the project scope if required.

Can network printers use domain accounts?

Compatible print environments can use domain identities and security groups for access management. Print server deployment or printer configuration must be confirmed separately.

Which Windows Server version should be used?

Windows Server 2025 and Windows Server 2022 are possible choices for supported deployments. The final version depends on the existing environment, functional-level compatibility, software requirements, and valid Microsoft licensing.

Can Windows Server 2012 still be used?

Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 are legacy platforms whose Extended Security Updates ended on October 13, 2026. They are not recommended for new production deployments. Existing environments should be evaluated for modernization.

Are Windows Server licenses included?

Licensing is not specified in the original service description. Windows Server licensing and applicable CAL requirements must therefore be confirmed in the commercial quotation.

Does an additional Domain Controller replace backups?

No. Directory replication is not a backup solution. System-state backup, recovery planning, and restoration procedures require a separate backup strategy.

Can an existing Active Directory domain be migrated?

Existing-domain migration requires an assessment of compatibility, domain health, DNS, replication, and the intended transition. Migration is not automatically part of a new implementation quotation.

How do I request an implementation quotation?

Use the Request a Quotation button and provide the company name, number of users and computers, existing server information, and whether a Single or Additional Domain Controller is required.
